Ken Johns, the former President of Sea-Land Service, established the firm in 1987. Prior to the JOC/PIERS, Bill spent ten years in the maritime industry as an Economist for the U.S. Panama Canal Commission and for Chase Econometrics (a division of the Chase Manhattan Bank), and as Manager of Business Planning for Sea-Land Corporation.

Mr. Ralph holds a BA in Economics from the University of Delaware and an MA in Economics from the University of Rhode Island. Bill serves on numerous community boards and industry advisory panels, including The City University of New York, Baruch College Weissman Center for International Business and as Trustee for Holiday Express a volunteer nonprofit organization delivering music, toys, clothing, food and fun to the needy in the tri-state NY/NJ/CT area.

Siva Narayanan is Rhodia’s worldwide core process manager for inbound and outbound logistics. In addition, he manages Rhodia’s North American international logistics, compliance, and warehousing portfolios. He is a member of their Global Maritime Council and president of the United States Shippers’ Association.

Mr. Narayanan has been in the international logistics field for 33 years, a major part of it with the NOL Group of Companies. He has been involved with operations turn-around, change management, contracts and procurement, strategic planning, business development, logistics solutions, sales and marketing, and client relations. He started his career in the merchant navy as a seagoing officer. He moved into ship management, and then into the commercial world of logistics.

In addition to the United States, Mr. Narayanan has lived and worked in Singapore, Thailand, and India. He has presented his views on logistics-related matters at various industry forums, such as the Defense Attaché’s Forum in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Exports Forum organized by The Journal of Commerce and Shipping Digest in New York, The TPM in Longbeach CA and others tailored for specific forums and companies.
