The International Commerce Club of NJ had its beginning in 1972 and was formed with the intention of fostering international trade and development in the tri-state area. The founder and first president of the club, Robert Cioppa, realized there was a need for a traffic club in New Jersey. He met with representatives from the local Chamber of Commerce, several steamship lines, and area traffic managers and formed the club.

Membership includes representatives from steamship lines, freight forwarders, import/export companies and other businesses involved in international commerce in the metropolitan area.

The club was incorporated as the International Commerce Club of NJ in 1983. The club also awarded its first Scholarship in 1983 to an individual studying International Business. The ICC of New Jersey now awards several student scholarships annually as well as other industry-related charitable donations through our ICC Gives Back program.
